Finding a photographer can be a bit overwhelming. If you’re looking to book your dream photoshoot, but feel a little lost in the sauce… read on, my friend. I’ve got a few tricks to finding the perfect fit!
- Style. This one is so key! If you’re not in love with the look of their photos, you won’t love how YOU look in them! Sounds simple, but this step gets overlooked… a lot. Look at your artists portfolio. Peep the website, the socials, and ask if they can share any work along the lines of your vision! How do their photos make you feel? How is their editing style, and how does that align with your dream photoshoot? Are the edits consistent? Just a few things to think about.

- Personality! This one’s for the artist. Can you see their personality come through their work and how they present themselves to the world? Are they someone you feel comfortable around and who could bring the right energy to your session? Are they knowledgable and friendly? How is their communication? If you think they my be a good match for you, book away! I always recommend meeting up at least once before your session. Meeting over coffee is my go to, and it gives you a chance to talk about the details face to face.
- Budget. I can’t stress enough that this should NOT be your sole deciding factor. However, the truth is, our finances are not unlimited. Don’t be afraid to ask for pricing, if they have a deposit and if they offer payment plans.
Bonus Tip: Peep the reviews!
That’s it. So find a few photographers that catch your eye in your area and start breaking it down. You’ll be behind the lens in no time.
